Company of Heroes Developer Relic Announces Earth vs. Mars

Authore: NicholasUpdate:Feb 22,2025

Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is branching out with a new turn-based strategy game, Earth vs. Mars. This smaller-scale title, launching this Summer on PC (Steam), puts players in a fight for Earth's survival against a Martian invasion.

The core gameplay revolves around the Splice-O-Tron, a device used to create unique creature-human hybrids for combat. Imagine Squirrel-Cows and Human-Rhinos – bizarre yet powerful units! The game's mechanics draw inspiration from the classic Advance Wars series for the Nintendo DS.

Relic explains the premise: "Martians have been secretly visiting Earth, abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, a full-scale invasion is underway, and Earth's resistance needs your command. Lead your forces against Martian saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors."

Earth vs. Mars offers a robust single-player campaign (30+ missions), online multiplayer (playable as either Earth or Mars), a VS Mode against the AI, and a map editor.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell stated, "We're thrilled to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars formula, incorporating our signature style while drawing inspiration from our earlier games. This marks a new strategy for Relic: alongside our traditional RTS titles, we'll be developing smaller, indie-style games to explore new genres, experiment creatively, and release games more frequently."
