Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Comprehensive Guide
Several quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 require reaching Kuttenberg before initiation. Once there, inter-regional travel becomes possible. This guide details completing the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest.
Prerequisites: The "In Vino Veritas" Quest
Before tackling "Under the Straw Hat," you must begin "In Vino Veritas." This quest unfolds in Kuttenberg. Upon arrival, locate Casper Rudolf, offering free wine samples on the city's west side. He seeks information to enhance his winemaking.
You can either impress Havel with wine knowledge directly or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta, gaining knowledge through reading. If choosing the direct approach with Havel (while appropriately attired and clean), select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" as your dialogue choices. This is crucial for obtaining information from Havel. Return to Casper with your findings.
Accessing the Vineyard and Initiating "Under the Straw Hat"
Casper now tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to gather details about the incense Havel mentioned. Avoid trespassing by following the main road into the vineyard and speaking with the recruiter. This conversation triggers the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Proceed along the road, passing a guard at the estate entrance. Find Jerome seated on a bench.
Inform Jerome of your assigned duties. He will provide information about vineyard work.
Working at the Vineyard: A Choice to Make
Your vineyard work commences the following day. Return to the vineyard in the morning. To earn wages, move sacks and harvest thistles near the vines. Alternatively, you can directly locate the secret incense.
The incense resides in the wine cellar, located downstairs in the main building where you met Jerome. Access is restricted, even for workers; unauthorized entry results in punishment. Either use a lockpick or steal the keys from Jerome to access the cellar.
Locate the chest in the cellar and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks. This completes the main objective. Optionally, gather five seedlings for Casper to enhance your reward (remembering this involves trespassing). These seedlings are found across the building from the main entrance.
After completing your tasks (or bypassing them), return to Casper to deliver the wicks and any collected seedlings. This concludes both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas." Proceed to other side quests, such as "Master Schindel's Toys."
