The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, this reunion wasn't without a hitch.
The original release of the Master Chief skin included a special Matte Black style, exclusively awarded to players on Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. Therefore, the unexpected announcement of its removal was met with significant backlash.
Some players even believed this action might violate legal regulations and began organizing a potential class-action lawsuit. Fortunately, Epic Games reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X console.
This reversal appears to be the most sensible outcome. Given the festive holiday season, upsetting players with such a controversial move would have been ill-advised.
