Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockable Breakers and Playstyles
Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay with multiple characters, or "Breakers," each with unique fighting styles. This guide covers all currently available Breakers and how to unlock them in the early access version.
Unlocking New Characters
To unlock new characters, you need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). First, locate Prisms (represented by golden diamond icons on the map) to access boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; the process for unlocking future characters may differ.
All Characters and SyComs
Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core abilities, significantly impacting their playstyle.
Vermillion
Vermillion's default SyCom is Gunslinger, favoring ranged combat with a crit-boosting mechanic. His unlockable Tank SyCom enhances his melee capabilities and defense through perfect parries.
Lapis
Lapis begins with Lightweaver, a ranged SyCom that boosts Rail shot damage after Battery pickups. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom increases core stats with each upgrade, making her potentially the strongest Breaker in the late game.
Goro
Goro is a ranged character with Astrologer as his default SyCom, speeding up Blade skill charging while shooting. His unlockable Sniper SyCom significantly increases his critical hit rate, making him a high-risk, high-reward option.
