Unraveling the Secrets of the Fountain of Confession in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
This guide will walk you through the intricate Fountain of Confession puzzle within the Vatican section of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, unlocking the mystery of the giants. Remember to photograph all clues (statues, murals, inscriptions) to earn Adventure Points!
Following the Sacred Wounds puzzle, Indy uses the scroll from the Giant’s tomb to locate the Fountain of Confession. Exit Antonio's office (as in the Sacred Wounds mission) and use your journal map to find the courtyard stairs leading to the puzzle's starting point.
First, retrieve the fountain key from the chest near the construction area (to the fountain's right). This unlocks the adjacent storage room.
Inside, use your whip to rappel to the rooftop, then swing across to the window, placing you atop the fountain. You'll see two dragon statues. Swing to the second statue and grab the protruding claw to activate a lever.
Use the lever to rotate the statue, aligning it with the opposite dragon. Return to the first statue; its claw is missing!
Locate the fallen claw on the scaffolding below. Rappelling down initiates a cutscene with Gina Lombardi, who assists with the puzzle.
Replace the claw, rotate the statue to face its counterpart, and the ground-level fountain statue will turn towards the wall. Now, rappel back down.
Use your whip to pull the fountain statue, revealing a gate blocked by three statues. A lever appears; Indy and Gina activate it together, presenting the first wall puzzle (a baptism scene). (Remember to photograph the inscriptions for Adventure Points and clues!)
Position the larger male statue under the water bucket, activate the water mechanism with your whip, and push the statue to “baptize” the smaller one, solving the first puzzle.
Reactivate the lever for the second puzzle (moving stone layers to reposition an angel figure). Use the handles on the wall to guide the angel to the right, completing this stage.
Finally, push the remaining central statue through the gate to activate a spiral staircase, leading to the next part of the game.
