The King of Fighters ALLSTAR is officially ending service

Authore: MadisonUpdate:Jan 19,2025

The popular mobile beat 'em up ARPG, King of Fighters ALLSTAR, is shutting down on October 30th, 2024. Netmarble's announcement, posted on their official forums, confirms the end of service, with in-app purchases already disabled.

This closure comes as a surprise, given the game's six-year run and numerous high-profile collaborations with other fighting game franchises. The game, based on SNK's King of Fighters series, has enjoyed considerable success.

Netmarble's developer statement hints at a contributing factor: a depletion of characters from the KoF roster suitable for adaptation into the game. While this is likely not the sole reason, it offers some insight into the decision.

This highlights the inherent challenges in maintaining these titles, demonstrating that even in the thriving mobile gaming market, financial sustainability remains a significant hurdle for developers.
