Monster Hunter Wilds breaks down gender barriers, allowing players to equip any armor set regardless of character gender! Discover the fan reaction and how this change revolutionizes "fashion hunting."
Monster Hunter Wilds: Gender-Locked Armor is History
Fashion Hunting Enters a New Era
For years, Monster Hunter players have longed for the freedom to wear any armor, regardless of their character's gender. That dream is now a reality! Capcom's Gamescom Developer Stream revealed a significant change for Monster Hunter Wilds: armor sets are finally gender-neutral.
A Capcom developer confirmed during a gameplay showcase, "In previous games, male and female armor was separate. But in Monster Hunter Wilds, all characters can wear any gear."
The Monster Hunter community erupted with excitement, particularly among "fashion hunters" who prioritize style. The previous gender restrictions meant missing out on desired armor pieces simply due to their assigned gender.
Imagine wanting that Rathian skirt as a male hunter, or sporting the Daimyo Hermitaur set as a female hunter—only to find it unavailable. This limitation was particularly frustrating, given the often bulky male armor and revealing female armor designs.
The problem extended beyond aesthetics. Monster Hunter: World's gender change system, requiring paid vouchers after the initial free one, added another layer of frustration for players wanting specific armor looks.
While details remain unconfirmed, Wilds will likely retain the "layered armor" system from previous titles. This, combined with the removal of gender-locked sets, unleashes a wealth of customization options.
Beyond the gender-neutral armor, Gamescom also unveiled two new monsters: Lala Barina and Rey Dau. For more on Monster Hunter Wilds' new features and creatures, check out the related article!
