Netmarble's popular action RPG, King of Fighters ALLSTAR, is closing its doors this year. The official announcement on Netmarble forums confirmed the shutdown date: October 30th, 2024. In-app purchases have already been disabled, ending on June 26th, 2024.
This news is disappointing for fans of the game, which has enjoyed a successful six-year run, featuring numerous high-profile fighting game crossovers based on SNK's iconic King of Fighters franchise. Despite generally positive player reviews praising its smooth animations and engaging PvP battles, the developers hinted at a potential shortage of characters to adapt as a contributing factor to the closure. However, this is likely just one element of a more complex situation.
The game did experience some challenges, including optimization problems and occasional crashes, which understandably frustrated some players. Nevertheless, King of Fighters ALLSTAR achieved millions of downloads across Google Play and the App Store.
Players still interested have approximately four months to experience the game's legendary battles before the servers shut down in October. Download it from the Google Play Store and enjoy those final matches.
