Marvel Rivals' Nexus Mods controversy escalates after over 500 modifications were submitted in a single month. A recent removal of mods sparked outrage. These mods replaced Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
Nexus Mods owner, TheDarkOne, clarified the removals on Reddit, stating both were removed simultaneously to prevent accusations of political bias. TheDarkOne noted, "We removed the Biden mod on the same day as the Trump mod to avoid bias. But for some reason YouTube bloggers are silent about it.”
However, this decision led to a wave of threats against TheDarkOne and Nexus Mods. TheDarkOne reported receiving "death threats, [being] called pedophiles and all sorts of insults."
This isn't the first time Nexus Mods faced backlash over mod removals. In 2022, a Spider-Man Remastered mod replacing rainbow flags with American flags was removed, with the site's owners citing their commitment to inclusivity.
TheDarkOne concluded, "We're not going to waste our time on people who think this is cause for uproar.”
