NieR: Automata's opening introduces 2B's initial mission. After deploying and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.

The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is located near your starting point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To the left, you'll see a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb onto the road. This route leads back towards the factory.

Descent to the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point and stairs leading upwards. From this upper area, locate the destroyed bridge where you previously encountered a Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge, ready to be retrieved.

Your discarded equipment from the prologue, containing consumables, is located just to the right of the sword.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata

  • Attack Power: 300-330
  • Combo: Light 2, Heavy 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels in wide-sweeping attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. Its attack speed, however, is slow. Through upgrades, it can achieve exceptionally high damage output, provided you adapt to its slower pace. Combining it with a faster weapon via a heavy attack during a combo mitigates the slow attack speed while still leveraging its high damage potential. While this prevents a full combo with the Virtuous Treaty, it offers a powerful burst within a faster combo sequence.
