Rumor: Jet Set Radio Remake Screenshots Leak Online

Alleged Leaks Surface for the Upcoming Jet Set Radio Remake

Recent online activity suggests that images and video footage from Sega's highly anticipated Jet Set Radio remake have been leaked. The remake, announced last December as part of Sega's initiative to reintroduce classic titles to a new generation, has been shrouded in secrecy since the initial Game Awards reveal.

However, information—allegedly from Sega leaker Midori—has been circulating for months, detailing not only the remake but also other projects like Crazy Taxi, Virtua Fighter, and Golden Axe remakes. Midori reportedly described two distinct Jet Set Radio projects: a live-service reboot with live events and customization, and a standalone remake lacking these features.

Twitter user MSKAZZY69 shared four screenshots purportedly from the remake's development build, including map views and gameplay snippets, citing Midori as the source. MSKAZZY69 further claimed the game is a "complete remake of the original, totally separate from the new one," describing it as an "open-world remake." This aligns with Midori's previous statements about graffiti, shooting mechanics, and an expansive open-world Tokyo setting with a new storyline.

Jet Set Radio Gameplay Footage: Fact or Fiction?

Adding fuel to the fire, alleged gameplay video appeared on YouTube, visually consistent with the leaked screenshots. Both showcase a modernized, more realistic art style for characters and environments, despite originating from different sources. The video reportedly depicts Beat tagging graffiti, executing skate tricks, and navigating Tokyo's streets.

Despite the excitement generated by these leaks, Midori's recent social media disappearance casts doubt on the authenticity of the material. Furthermore, Sega's official silence persists, and a release date remains elusive, with 2026 being the earliest possible estimate.

Sega's Revival Plans Gain Momentum

While the veracity of the leaked Jet Set Radio footage remains unconfirmed, it has undeniably fueled anticipation for Sega's retro revival. Other classic titles reportedly slated for remakes include Alex Kidd and House of the Dead. While Sega's commitment to revisiting its past is evident, the lack of official confirmation means any further leaks or reports should be treated with caution until official announcements are made.
