Alienware's Area-51 Now Supports RTX 5090 Graphics Card

Authore: ChristianUpdate:Apr 28,2025

Dell has recently revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs. Initially, the only graphics card option available was the RTX 5080, but that has changed. Now, you can configure your Alienware Area-51 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at $5,499.99. The best part? You won't have to wait long—Dell is estimating an early April ship date for these systems.

Priced at $5,499.99 at Alienware, the "base" configuration for an Alienware Area-51 with an RTX 5090 GPU is anything but basic. This system boasts impressive specs, including the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivers exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. While it doesn't surpass the i9-14900K's performance as hoped, it remains the best from Intel's current lineup. The system is cooled by a robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

At CES 2025, Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC. While the chassis design echoes the 2024 R16 model, it features aesthetic and cooling redesigns alongside updated components. The I/O panel has been moved to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now covers the entire side panel, eliminating side vents. Air intakes are now located at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design that helps keep the system dust-free. The internal components have been updated with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer GPU currently available. Despite Nvidia's focus on software updates, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology, the RTX 5090 offers a significant 25%-30% performance increase over the RTX 4090 in terms of raw raster performance. Additionally, it features more (32GB vs 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs GDDR6) VRAM. Due to high demand, the RTX 5090 is difficult to find at its retail price, often selling for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has claimed the performance crown from the RTX 4090, though the improvement in traditional non-AI gaming is modest. The RTX 5090's generational uplift is one of the smallest in recent memory. However, in games that support DLSS 4, the performance gains are substantial, albeit with 75% of the frames generated by AI."
