Best Android PS2 Emulator: What PS2 Emulator Should I use On Android?

Experience PlayStation 2 gaming on your Android device! Once a dream, portable PS2 emulation is now a reality. This article guides you to the best Android PS2 emulator and how to use it effectively. Powerful hardware is key, however.

The Top Choice: NetherSX2

While AetherSX2 was previously considered the best, its development has stopped, and it's no longer available on Google Play. Beware of scam websites offering downloads – these often contain malware.

Instead, we recommend joining the AetherSX2 Fan Community Discord server. This community provides links to archived versions of AetherSX2's best builds and importantly, offers access to NetherSX2. NetherSX2, a reverse-engineered project based on AetherSX2, avoids some of AetherSX2's later performance issues and even surpasses it in several areas. It's actively developed and improved.

Alternative Emulators (Proceed with Caution)

  • Play!: This free, open-source emulator is still under development. Emulation is basic, and many games are unplayable at this stage. It's an option if you're willing to experiment with a very early-stage project.

  • DamonPS2: We strongly advise against using DamonPS2. Despite its prominent Play Store listing, it's a low-quality emulator with allegations of stolen code from its developers. The other emulators mentioned offer significantly better performance and ethical development.
