The stress test for what could be the eighth and final major patch of Baldur's Gate III is now underway. Early access to the patch was previously available to some Sony console players, but for those not keen on testing, the developers suggest reinstalling the game for the best experience.
Patch 8 brings several exciting updates, with one of the most anticipated being crossplay, which allows seamless gaming between console and PC players. This feature enables players to invite friends from different platforms, provided they have a linked Larian account. Remarkably, modded gameplay will also support cross-platform play, but with specific conditions. All mods used by the PC player must be compatible with Mac and consoles, and the host’s lobby should not have more than a double-digit number of mods installed.
In terms of multiplayer enhancements, a much-awaited feature is currently under test: split-screen co-op on Xbox Series S. This lower-powered console previously did not support split-screen play, making this update a significant boon for its users.
Other notable additions in Patch 8 include a robust photo mode with a plethora of customization options and 12 new subclasses, adding fresh variety to the gameplay. Larian Studios has also worked on fixing bugs and rebalancing game elements, although some issues persist.
