"Captain America: Brave New World Among Shortest MCU Films"

Authore: SamuelUpdate:Mar 28,2025

"Captain America: Brave New World" marks a significant milestone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as the shortest film in the Captain America series and one of the briefest in the entire MCU. AMC Theatres has disclosed that the movie runs for a concise one hour and 58 minutes, positioning it as the seventh shortest out of the 35 MCU films. This runtime places it under the two-hour mark, a rarity among MCU movies, especially when compared to the previous Captain America films, all of which exceed two hours.

Historically, the MCU's shorter films are predominantly from Phase 1 and Phase 2, but recent entries like "The Marvels" from 2022, clocking in at one hour and 45 minutes, have also kept runtimes brief. Other notably short MCU films include "The Incredible Hulk," "Thor: The Dark World," "Thor," "Doctor Strange," and "Ant-Man." Interestingly, "Brave New World" shares its runtime with "Ant-Man and The Wasp," both at one hour and 58 minutes. On the opposite end of the spectrum, "Avengers: Endgame" stands as the longest MCU film at three hours and one minute, followed by "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," "Eternals," and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."

As "Brave New World" approaches its release date of February 14, it's worth noting that the film has undergone several rewrites and reshoots, including scenes involving WWE star Seth Rollins. However, the impact of these changes on the final runtime remains unclear.

This film introduces a new era for the Captain America franchise, featuring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson stepping into the iconic role following Chris Evans' Steve Rogers' retirement. Mackie has promised that "Brave New World" will uphold the series' tradition of delivering a grounded, espionage-driven narrative. Additionally, the movie will delve into lesser-known corners of Marvel lore, bringing to life characters like The Leader, a tease from "The Incredible Hulk," and introducing Red Hulk to the MCU.
