Tentacle Tactics
Nu Udra presents a significant challenge in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Its massive tentacles grant it impressive reach, making evasion tricky. However, these same tentacles offer melee fighters their closest attack points. Severing the arms yields extra materials, but proceed with caution; these limbs pack a powerful punch.
Mouth-Watering Target
Ranged weapon users have more options, but the mouth remains the prime target. Its near-pitch-black skin makes it difficult to spot, but attacking the mouth exploits its 4-star weakness. The head is a viable alternative, boasting a 3-star weakness to ammo damage and remaining a strong target for blunt and cut damage.
Watermoss Warfare
Nu Udra possesses a fire affinity in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Besides its limb attacks, it employs fire-based assaults. At a certain point, it even ignites itself, creating a dangerous Fireblight debuff. Using Watermoss is highly recommended to mitigate this and allow for safer attacks.
Fire-Resistant Fortitude
Struggling? Equip fire-resistant gear. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is an excellent choice. Fire Res Jewels reduce fire damage, while Stream Jewels boost Water Attack damage, enhancing your offensive capabilities.
Beware the Grasp
Nu Udra's grab attack is its most dangerous move. If too close, it may ensnare you with its tentacles, followed by a fiery blast. Use a knife to break free during the brief pause, or use your Slinger to target a weak point.

Capturing the Black Flame
To capture Nu Udra, prepare a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the monster until its health is critically low (indicated by a skull icon next to the boss icon). Lure it with meat or simply run behind the trap while it targets you. Once trapped, quickly use a Tranquilizer—you have about five seconds before it breaks free.
This guide covers defeating and capturing Nu Udra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. This challenging fight is best tackled with multiplayer assistance.
