GTA 6 Trailer 2 Release Date: Take-Two Boss Advocates for Proximity to Launch

Authore: JoshuaUpdate:Apr 13,2025

The anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) continues to build, as fans eagerly await the release of the second trailer. Despite the record-breaking viewership of GTA 6 Trailer 1, which was released in December 2023, Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped about any further assets, leaving fans to speculate wildly.

The prolonged wait has led to a variety of conspiracy theories, ranging from counting the holes in Lucia’s cell door net and the bullet holes in the car from Trailer 1 to analyzing registration plates. One of the more notable theories, the GTA 6 moon watch, accurately predicted the announcement date for Trailer 1, though it was later debunked as a hint for Trailer 2's release date.

Strauss Zelnick, the boss of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two, recently shed light on the marketing strategy in an interview with Bloomberg. He emphasized the importance of maintaining anticipation and excitement, stating, “The anticipation for that title may be the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for an entertainment property. And I’ve been around the block a few times and I’ve been in every entertainment business there is.”

Zelnick further explained that the strategy involves releasing marketing materials closer to the game's release window to balance excitement with unmet anticipation. This approach is intended to keep the hype alive without revealing too much too soon, a tactic that former Rockstar developer Mike York also acknowledged on his YouTube channel.

York, who worked on Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, suggested that Rockstar's silence is a deliberate tactic to fuel speculation and keep the community engaged. He noted, “They're reaching and pulling and trying to come up with these really cool theories to decipher when the next trailer will be. Specifically Rockstar, they're very secretive about what they do, and this is a really cool tactic because it creates allure and it creates mystery and it creates people talking about it without them having to do anything.”

Based on Zelnick's comments, it seems likely that fans may not see GTA 6 Trailer 2 until closer to the game's expected release date in fall 2025. This strategy, while frustrating for eager fans, is designed to maintain the buzz around what is arguably the most anticipated video game in the world.
