In Avowed, upgrading weapons is crucial for survival. Early game encounters feature Common (Level I) weapons and enemies, but the difficulty quickly escalates to Level II, demanding Fine (Tier II) gear. Here's how to acquire and upgrade to this higher tier.
Upgrading Weapons and Armor from Common (I) to Fine (II)
While some Fine (II) weapons and armor can be found or purchased, others require upgrading. Avowed uses a two-part system to track gear effectiveness: Quality (indicated by descriptor, color, and Roman numeral) and enhancement levels (+1 to +3). Common (I) gear is green, while Fine (II) gear is blue.
To upgrade from Common (I) to Fine (II), visit a Party Camp workbench. Each upgrade level (+1 to +3) requires specific materials. After reaching +3, you'll need Adra, a rare crystal often obtained from quests, merchants, or by dismantling Unique items, to finally upgrade to Fine (II).
Finding and Purchasing Fine (II) Weapons and Armor

Upgrading consumes resources. Alternatively, you can find Fine (II) gear early in Dawnshore, though it's rare. Level II enemies, especially Bounties, sometimes drop Fine (II) gear, but Common gear is significantly less effective against them.
Merchants in Paradis also sell Fine (II) gear. Access to Paradis is granted after defeating the Dreamscourge bear boss in Dawnshore. Two sisters operate nearby the Bounty Board: Merlylin sells magical items (grimoires, wands), while her blacksmith sister sells standard weapons and armor (pictured above).
