Larian Reveals Exciting New Subclasses for Baldur

While many fans believed that Patch 7 would mark the final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has exciting news: another substantial update is on the horizon for 2025. This upcoming patch promises to enrich the gaming experience with the addition of crossplay support, a new photo mode, and an impressive lineup of 12 new subclasses. Each subclass introduces unique mechanics that are set to redefine gameplay strategies and character development.

We've already explored details about four of these subclasses, and now it's time to delve deeper into the remaining ones: the Oath of the Crown Paladin, Arcane Archer, Drunken Master Monk, and Swarmkeeper Ranger.

Oath of the Crown Paladin

The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and order, prioritizing the well-being of society above all else. This subclass is equipped with the powerful Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage directed at allies but also restores their health, making it a crucial asset in any party.

Arcane Archer

Combining martial skill with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer brings a new level of versatility to the battlefield. Their enchanted arrows are capable of blinding, weakening, or even temporarily exiling enemies to the Feywild. What's more, if an arrow misses its initial target, the Arcane Archer can skillfully redirect its path to strike another foe, ensuring no shot is wasted.

Drunken Master Monk

The Drunken Master Monk introduces a unique fighting style that integrates alcohol into their combat techniques. Their signature move intoxicates opponents, leaving them disoriented while simultaneously enhancing the monk's own abilities. The use of Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target not only deals physical damage but also inflicts mental anguish, making it a potent strategy in battle.

Swarmkeeper Ranger

Harnessing the power of nature, the Swarmkeeper Ranger forms alliances with swarms of creatures, turning them into both a shield and a weapon. These swarms offer protection from harm and facilitate teleportation, adding a dynamic element to the ranger's mobility. In combat, the Swarmkeeper can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters that shock enemies, blinding moth clouds that obscure vision, and stinging bee legions that can knock back adversaries failing a strength check by 4.5 meters.

With these new subclasses, Baldur's Gate 3 continues to evolve, offering players even more ways to customize their characters and explore the rich world of the game. Stay tuned for more details as we approach the 2025 release of this exciting update.
