Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Sales Milestone

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player demand despite initial technical hiccups and controversy. This success highlights a renewed interest in the classic action title.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), the RePOP version was handled by Dragami Games. While the original developers weren't involved in the remaster, Dragami Games implemented quality-of-life improvements and a significant visual upgrade.

The game's sales achievement, announced via a Dragami Games tweet, covers all current and last-gen consoles, plus PC. This milestone, reached several months after the September 2024 launch, is a testament to the game's enduring appeal.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence

Lollipop Chainsaw places players in the role of Juliet Starling, a cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is invaded by the undead. The fast-paced, hack-and-slash gameplay, utilizing Juliet's chainsaw, draws comparisons to titles like Bayonetta.

While the RePOP version has achieved impressive sales, the original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 significantly outperformed it, selling over one million copies. This initial success likely stemmed from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn, who contributed to the game's narrative.

The future of the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise remains uncertain. While there's no confirmation of future DLC or sequels, the RePOP sales figures offer encouragement for remasters of other cult-classic games. This positive trend is further supported by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title brought to modern platforms.
