Longvinter, the PC's Answer to Animal Crossing, Leaves Early Access on Steam

After three years of dedicated development, incorporating player feedback, and diligently addressing bugs, Longvinter has triumphantly exited early access on Steam with the launch of version 1.0. The developers have proudly announced this significant milestone, introducing a host of updates that are set to rejuvenate the gaming experience for both newcomers and long-time enthusiasts alike.

The most notable addition in this update is the introduction of oil rigs scattered across the archipelago. Players can now engage in the extraction of oil, refine it into fuel, and participate in thrilling battles against mercenaries from the Longvinter Resource Initiative (LRI) who control these vital supply lines. Alongside these new mechanics, exciting events have been added, such as helicopter crashes that provide access to tactical gear and an underground arena where players can compete for valuable rewards every hour.

The game world has been enriched with a diverse array of new wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats, all of which can be tamed and used as mounts. The update also brings a variety of new items to the game, such as hats that provide buffs, combat vests, an assortment of weapons and explosives, new kitchen recipes, and interactive objects for building and decorating. These include oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Additionally, significant adjustments have been made to weapon balance to enhance gameplay dynamics.

Looking forward, the upcoming 1.1 update promises to introduce farming mechanics, a revamped tutorial designed to ease new players into the game, apartment rentals, and shared community spaces. Furthermore, the developers have confirmed that Longvinter will expand its reach beyond PC players with a launch on PlayStation in 2026, opening up new horizons for the game's community.
