Monster Hunter Wilds Rey Dau Boss Fight Guide
Rey Dau, the first dragon monster you encounter in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, wields the lightning element, making it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's vulnerable to ice and water elements. Focus your attacks on its head, which has a 4-star weakness, or its wings, rated at 3 stars. Avoid hitting its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Instead, target its tail if hitting the head proves challenging. Effective status ailments include Poison, Sleep, Blastblight, and Exhaust, but avoid using Stun and Paralysis due to its lightning element.
Use a Flash Pod
To swiftly tackle Rey Dau, deploy a Flash Pod to temporarily stun it. This gives you a window to land critical hits, particularly on its horns when they glow red during its lightning attack. Make sure to enter Focus Mode to spot this opportunity.
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
Surviving Rey Dau's onslaught is easier with the right gear. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, offers reduced damage and resistance to Lightning and Fire. Complement this with a meal that boosts your elemental resistance. If dodging is tough, position yourself near its legs, where it's less likely to hit you.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Rey Dau's tendency to fly between locations during battle can be used to your advantage. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps on the lone tree to briefly stun the monster. Be cautious when it returns to its nest, as it unleashes a follow-up lightning attack that can stun you. Patience is key to avoiding a fatal shock.

Instead of fighting Rey Dau to the death, consider capturing it for additional rewards. Weaken the dragon until it's near death, indicated by a skull icon on the mini-map. Use a Pitfall Trap to capture it, as Shock Traps won't work on a lightning dragon. Follow up with a Tranquilizer quickly to ensure a successful capture.
