Japanese YouTuber Achieves Pokémon TCG Pocket Milestone
Over $8,500 Spent on In-Game Currency
Hajimesyacho, a popular Japanese YouTuber known for diverse content, recently revealed his impressive accomplishment on Twitter (X). Since the October 30, 2024 launch of Pokémon TCG Pocket, he's purchased the maximum 720 Poké Gold daily. This equates to approximately $100 per day, totaling an estimated $8,500 (excluding potential sales discounts).
This consistent spending allowed him to amass 50,000 cards, encompassing cards from Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, as well as limited-time promotional cards. The recently added "Pokedex" Trainer card, awarded for global card collection milestones, further enhances the collection.
McDonald's and Pokémon TCG Pocket Team Up
The Pokémon Company announced a surprise collaboration with McDonald's on January 21, 2025. Happy Meal purchases now include exclusive Pokémon-themed boxes containing collectible physical cards and in-game rewards.
Fifteen unique physical cards, including popular Pokémon like Miraidon, Roaring Moon, and Rayquaza (seven with a holographic finish), are available randomly. Pokémon TCG Pocket players can also redeem in-game rewards: 24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Hourglasses for opening booster packs and using the Wonder Pick feature.
Four distinct Happy Meal box designs feature iconic dragon-type Pokémon. This promotion is available while supplies last, with in-game rewards expiring on March 31, 2025.
Trading Feature and New Booster Pack on the Horizon
A new trading feature is coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket. Announced on January 17, 2025, the feature will initially allow trades between friends of cards with matching rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards are excluded. A consumable item will be required for trades.
Initially, only certain cards from Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs will be tradable, with the developers promising expanded options based on player feedback. A new booster pack is also slated for release in January 2025.
