Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former developers from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has announced their debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker. While not aiming for a full-scale AAA experience, the team's aspirations are undeniably high.
Studio founder Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified their ambition: to achieve Witcher 3-level quality, albeit on a smaller scale. He stated, "We want AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—that’s our heritage. But as a small studio on our first project, we’re creating something more compact yet just as polished."
The projected playtime is estimated at 30-40 hours. Tomaszkiewicz addressed the inevitable comparisons to The Witcher 3's extensive playtime (often exceeding 200-300 hours), stating, "Comparing anything to The Witcher 3...is crazy. But is size what makes a game AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without a massive campaign. So, does scale really matter?" He further dismissed industry classifications like "AAA" and "AAAA" as largely irrelevant.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG centered around a half-vampire racing against a 30-day/30-night deadline to rescue loved ones. Despite the time constraint, the developers promise a streamlined and engaging experience. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, though a release date is yet to be announced.
