R.E.P.O Console Release Confirmed?

*R.E.P.O.*, the co-op horror game that hit the market in February, has captured the attention of over 200,000 PC gamers. But what about a console release? Here's the latest scoop on whether *R.E.P.O.* will make its way to consoles.

Is *R.E.P.O.* Coming to Consoles?

As of now, *R.E.P.O.* is not slated for a console release, and it might stay exclusive to PC indefinitely. The game's developer, semiwork, has not hinted at any plans for a console version. Instead, their focus remains on perfecting the game's multiplayer experience, which has encountered some challenges.

The primary hurdle they face is enhancing the multiplayer mechanics, given that *R.E.P.O.* is designed for cooperative play, while ensuring it doesn't become a playground for cheaters. According to the developer (via PCGamer), "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that." This issue needs resolution before any console port could be considered.

While some PC-exclusive titles like *Mouthwashing* have made the leap to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, simplifying the transition. Similarly, games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share a similar theme of evading monsters, have remained PC-only. The developers of *Content Warning* mentioned last year that they were exploring a console release, but technical difficulties halted progress, and there have been no further updates since.

So, will *R.E.P.O.* come to consoles? Currently, the developer has not shown any interest in pursuing a console version and is concentrating on enhancing the multiplayer aspects of the PC version.
