In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players can embark on a side quest titled "For Science!" This quest, triggered through interactions with various NPCs in The Zone, involves activating a second measuring device atop a silo. Completing it grants access to the STC Malachite facility.
Initiating "For Science!":
The quest begins at the Central Elevator in the Chemical Plant. Approaching this location will initiate a radio conversation between Skif and Yaryk Mongoose. Mongoose, located on the first floor of the building (accessible via rusted stairs and a railing vault), will request Skif's assistance in activating a second device. Agreeing to his request starts the mission.
Reaching the Silo's Summit:
Ascend the building to its roof. Expect a rodent encounter. After eliminating them, climb out a broken window and descend a ladder to the silo walkways. Be prepared for electro anomalies; equip appropriate gear. Proceed left along the silo's top to locate and activate the device. Activating the device attracts Bloodsuckers. Choose to fight or evade them.
Confronting Yaryk Mongoose:
Return to Mongoose. He'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose or accept his reward. Both choices have no significant long-term impact. Choosing the peaceful option rewards the player with the Malachite Pass and coupons. This pass allows entry to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via the main storyline.
