Stellar Blade, initially a PlayStation exclusive, is officially coming to PC in 2025! This announcement follows earlier speculation and confirms the developer SHIFT UP's plans for platform expansion.
PC Release in 2025 Confirmed
SHIFT UP, citing the booming PC gaming market and the success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong, confirmed the 2025 PC release following investor inquiries about platform expansion. While a specific date remains unannounced, the developer plans to maintain the game's popularity through ongoing marketing, including the upcoming November 20th release of collaboration DLC with NieR: Automata and the highly requested Photo Mode.
PSN Linking Concerns
Stellar Blade's PC release joins a growing trend of PlayStation exclusives making their way to PC. However, this trend has also raised concerns. As a Sony-published title and with SHIFT UP's second-party developer status, there's a strong possibility that PC players will need to link their Steam accounts to their PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts. This would unfortunately exclude players in regions lacking PSN access.
Sony's stated reason for this requirement is to ensure the "safe" enjoyment of its live-service games, a justification that has been questioned regarding single-player titles.
The necessity of a PSN account for Stellar Blade's PC version remains uncertain. SHIFT UP's ownership of the IP suggests it might not be mandatory. However, a PSN requirement could significantly impact PC sales, potentially hindering SHIFT UP's goal of surpassing console sales.
