Triss' Wedding Featured in Witcher 3 Development

Triss

In the Witcher 3 quest, "Ashen Marriage," Geralt assists Triss Merigold and her seemingly charming fiancé, Castello, in their whirlwind romance and impending nuptials in Novigrad. His tasks range from monster extermination in the city's canals to procuring celebratory beverages and selecting a wedding gift for Triss.

The gift Geralt chooses significantly impacts Triss's response. A sentimental memory rose, a callback to The Witcher 2, evokes a powerful emotional reaction, unlike more commonplace presents.

However, unforeseen complications arise when Dijkstra exposes Castello's secret connection to witch hunters, casting doubt on his intentions. The truth reveals Castello's actions are coerced; the hunters are blackmailing him, leveraging a secret daughter from a previous marriage.

Geralt faces the decision of whether to reveal this information to Triss alone or with Castello present. Regardless of his choice, the wedding is called off. Triss's reaction varies – disappointment in her fiancé or gratitude for his honesty – but ultimately, she deems the marriage premature.

This plot development presents a missed opportunity. It could have significantly deepened Geralt and Triss's relationship and further developed the supporting characters' storylines.
