Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090: 32GB GDDR7 Memory and 575W Power Draw - A CES 2025 Reveal
Leaked specifications point to Nvidia's upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 boasting a substantial 32GB of GDDR7 video memory and a significant 575W power requirement. This high-end graphics card, codenamed Blackwell, is slated for an official unveiling at Nvidia's CES 2025 keynote on January 6th.
The RTX 50 series represents Nvidia's next-generation graphics cards, arriving over two years after the RTX 40 series launch. Building upon its predecessors, the RTX 50 series will leverage Tensor Cores for AI processing, and feature DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (on compatible motherboards). This new lineup will replace the RTX 40 series (some models of which, like the RTX 4090D and RTX 4070, have already been discontinued), and will directly compete with AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs.
Ahead of the official announcement, details about the RTX 5090 emerged, including an Inno3D iChill X3 RTX 5090 reveal. This triple-fan card, occupying over three expansion slots, confirms the 32GB GDDR7 memory – double the expected capacity of the RTX 5070 Ti. The 575W power draw represents a considerable jump from the RTX 4090's 450W.
The RTX 5090: High Performance, High Price
The RTX 5090's impressive specifications come at a cost. Inno3D's leak confirms the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the substantial 575W power draw, necessitating a high-capacity power supply. While the official price remains undisclosed, market expectations suggest an MSRP starting at $1,999 or higher.
The entire RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti, will be revealed alongside the RTX 5090 at Nvidia's CES presentation. The new generation will utilize a proprietary 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be provided. The impact of this new lineup on the consumer market remains to be seen.
