Unlike previous Dynasty Warriors titles where players controlled numerous characters, each with unique weapons, Dynasty Warriors: Origins features a single protagonist who unlocks a diverse arsenal. This guide details how to acquire each weapon.
Weapon Acquisition Guide
Early Dynasty Warriors games linked weapons to specific characters, each with unique movesets. Dynasty Warriors: Origins streamlines this by allowing weapon switching. Starting with a sword, additional weapons are earned by defeating particular enemy officers in various missions. All nine primary weapons are obtainable before completing Chapter 3, though the order may vary. To ensure early acquisition, follow this guide:
- Sword: Your starting weapon.
- Spear: Complete the Battle of Guangyang (Chapter 1). Purchase is required for story progression.
- Gauntlets: Battle of Guangzong (Chapter 1). Defeat Zhou Cang.
- Wheels: Suppression of You Province (Chapter 2). Defeat Zhang Ju.
- Podao: Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits (Chapter 2). Defeat any officer wielding this weapon.
- Staff: Assassination of Dong Zhuo (Chapter 2). Defeat the officer within a treasure chamber's secret passage.
- Twin Pike: Battle of Hulao Gate (Chapter 2). Defeat Zhang Liao.
- Lance: Battle of Xu Province. Defeat an officer on the opposing side (either Cao Cao or Liu Bei's forces).
- Crescent Blade: Unlocked in Chapter 3 after aligning with a specific faction. The exact mission varies depending on your choices.
Bonus Weapon: The Halberd
After completing the main campaign, defeat Lu Bu at the Battle of Hulao Gate to unlock the halberd, arguably the game's most powerful weapon. This is a challenging fight.
