Wuthering Waves' elemental system has evolved significantly with Version 2.0. Previously, elements primarily provided character buffs and enemy resistances. Now, with the introduction of Elemental Effects, there's more direct interaction. This guide details these changes.
Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs
While elemental effects existed before, Version 2.0 allows characters to apply and benefit from them. Each element has a unique status effect:

| Havoc Bane | Stacks periodically, up to 2. At 2 stacks, deals Havoc DMG and reapplies to nearby characters. |
| Glacio Chafe | Reduces movement speed per stack, freezing at 10 stacks. Players can "Struggle" to speed up thawing. |
| Spectro Frazzle | Stacks decrease to deal Spectro DMG. More stacks = more DMG over time. |
| Fusion Burst | Stacks up to 10, exploding at max stacks for high Fusion DMG. |
| Aero Erosion | Deals Aero DMG periodically; stacks don't deplete to deal DMG. More stacks = more DMG over time. |
| Electro Flare | Reduces ATK based on stacks: 1-4 (-5%), 5-9 (-7% + Magnetized effect), 10 (-10%). |
Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets
Currently, the utilization of Elemental Effects is limited. Only a few Resonators, Echoes, and Echo sets interact with them:
Resonators Applying Elemental Effects:
- Spectro Rover: Post-Version 2.0 rework, Spectro Rover is the only character applying Elemental Effects. Its Resonance Skill's Resonating Spin variant applies 2 stacks of Spectro Frazzle, and the Shimmer effect prevents stack decay, allowing sustained effect buildup.
Echoes and Echo Sets Related to Elemental Effects:
- Echo Set - Eternal Radiance: 2-piece bonus: +10% Spectro DMG. 5-piece bonus: Inflicting Spectro Frazzle increases Crit. Rate by 20% for 15s. 10 stacks grant a 15% Spectro DMG bonus for 15s.
- Echo - Nightmare: Increases Spectro DMG dealt to enemies inflicted by Spectro Frazzle by 100%. Provides a 12% Spectro DMG bonus to the equipped Resonator.
While currently niche, the integration of Elemental Effects suggests a potential shift towards more complex elemental interactions in future Wuthering Waves updates.
