The Pokémon Company International has achieved a remarkable feat, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest Pokémon TCG unboxing livestream. On November 26th, 2024, a 24-hour marathon unboxing event celebrating the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion captivated audiences worldwide.

This record-breaking livestream featured popular online personalities, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. The team opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, culminating in an estimated 20,000+ cards, as reported on the official Pokémon press website.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in the accomplishment: “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”

The event's success extends beyond the record itself. The Pokémon Company announced plans for further product giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the following two weeks. The massive card collection amassed during the livestream will be donated to various charities before the holidays, including Barnardo's in the UK.

Launched on November 8th, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, the central location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as Archaludon ex with its formidable Metal Defender ability.

The set also features iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, along with Alolan Exeggutor ex and Tatsugiri ex. Collectors can also find captivating Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards, including Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, showcasing serene ocean scenes. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex add exciting new options for TCG players.

The expansion is also available digitally through the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering digital players the chance to earn in-game rewards by collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
