"Assassin's Creed Games Ranked: Tier List"

Authore: AdamUpdate:Mar 29,2025

The latest installment in Ubisoft's renowned series of stealth-action open-world games, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has finally arrived, inviting players to explore 16th-century Japan through the eyes of protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. With over 30 titles under the Assassin’s Creed banner, we focus here on the mainline games, excluding mobile, side-scrolling, VR entries, and spin-offs such as Bloodlines or Liberation.

The journey began in 2007 with Desmond Miles stepping into the Animus to relive the life of his ancestor Altaïr. Now, 18 years later, Assassin’s Creed Shadows marks the 14th entry in the core series. To help you gauge its place among its predecessors, I've crafted a personal tier list based on enjoyment, which you can view below:

Simon Cardy's Assassin's Creed Tier List

In my tier list, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remains my top favorite, earning a spot in the S-tier due to its perfect blend of island exploration, ship combat, and a vibrant cast of characters. It's joined in the S-tier by Assassin’s Creed 2, the game that significantly boosted the series' popularity. I've also placed Valhalla in the A-tier, appreciating its Viking-inspired combat and the engaging Orlog minigame. Unity sits alongside it, lauded for its stunning recreation of Paris during the French Revolution, even a decade after its release.

Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you find Valhalla too expansive or believe Assassin’s Creed 2 is overrated. Why not create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community?
