The developers at FLINT have decided to remove English dubbing from ASTRA: Knights of Veda on January 23, 2025, aiming to enhance "game stability and deliver higher-quality localizations." This decision was announced on January 20, as part of a broader Language Support adjustment to improve the game's localization and ensure its stability.

Scheduled maintenance on January 23 will lead to the removal of support for several languages, including German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. However, FLINT will continue to support Korean, English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian.

While English text support remains, the in-game English voiceovers will be removed. Post-maintenance, "countries outside of Korea will have their In-Game Voice option automatically set to Japanese." FLINT has clarified that these changes will not impact players' ability to communicate in any of the languages that were removed.

Despite potential concerns from fans, FLINT is committed to "continuously improving services and experiences for our Masters of the Book."

Other Gacha Games That Removed English Voiceovers

FLINT is not alone in this decision; other gacha games have also moved away from English voice-over support. For instance, Square Enix’s War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Yostar Games’ Aether Gazer, and Amazing Seasun Games’ Snowbreak: Containment Zone have similarly adjusted their voice-over offerings.

In May 2024, Square Enix announced the removal of English voice-overs for future content in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, starting from Main Story Part 3, Chapter 8, and Another Story Chapter 3, Scene 7. Existing chapters will retain their English voice-overs, but new content will default to Japanese. This shift aims to prioritize the Japanese language for the game's future content.

Aether Gazer's developers announced in February 2024 the complete removal of English voice-overs post the "Crepuscular Cloudsong" update, citing financial challenges. The decision was made to redirect resources towards enhancing gameplay, performance, and future content.

Snowbreak: Containment Zone followed suit in December 2023, removing English voice-overs after evaluating player preferences and aiming to optimize the gaming experience. Starting with Version 1.4, certain content will automatically switch to Japanese voice-over.

These decisions across various gacha games reflect a focus on aligning with player language preferences and optimizing resource allocation. Prioritizing the most commonly used language can enhance player engagement, while reallocating resources can support the game's long-term sustainability and focus on aspects most valued by the community.
