Sony's Astro Bot Opens to Critical Acclaim in Stark Contrast to Concord's Massive Flop

As September 6th arrives, Sony experiences a bittersweet moment. While the firm contends with the recent and indefinite closure of Concord, its highly anticipated 3D platformer, Astro Bot, launches to critical acclaim.

Astro Bot’s critical success contrasts sharply with Concord’s reception. At the time of writing, the game boasts a superb 94 score on Metacritic, making it one of the top-rated standalone games of 2024 thus far. Only the Elden Ring expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, surpasses it with a 95. Other noteworthy releases include FINAL FANTASY VII Rebirth and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth at 92, and Animal Well and Balato at 91 and 90, respectively.

Game8 gave Astro Bot a 96, lauding its polished feel and even suggesting it as a possible Game of the Year (GOTY) contender. For our detailed review of Astro Bot and Team ASOBI's achievement, see our review below!
