Avowed, set in the rich fantasy world of Eora (from the Pillars of Eternity series), offers a diverse range of playable races, though character creation options are somewhat limited at launch. Here's a breakdown of the playable races:
Humans (Folk)
Humans, known as Folk in Avowed, are the most common race and offer extensive customization. The character creator provides numerous presets, detailed facial features, skin tone options, and diverse hair styles, ensuring a wide range of character representation.
Elves
Elves are another playable race, visually similar to humans but distinguished by their pointed ears and slightly different facial structures.
Godlikes
While all Envoys are Godlikes in the game's narrative, players can choose to incorporate Godlike features into their character's appearance. These features include unique hair and facial options, ranging from subtle to fantastical. At launch, 14 distinct facial features and 4 hairstyles are available, regardless of chosen race or body type.
Character Customization: Gender and Pronouns
Avowed offers four body types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Two masculine and two feminine voice options are also provided. Players can select their character's pronouns (he/him, she/her, or they/them), further enhancing character personalization.
Unplayable Races
While Avowed features various Kith races in its non-player characters (NPCs), including Dwarves, Aumaua, and Orlans, these are currently not playable races. However, Obsidian Entertainment may add these options in future updates or DLC.
This covers all currently playable races in Avowed. For further character creation details, consult our guide on available backgrounds.
