Clash Royale heads back to the past with new (yet old) Retro Royale mode

Authore: AidenUpdate:Mar 21,2025

Clash Royale is throwing it back to 2017 with the limited-time Retro Royale Mode! Running from March 12th to 26th, this nostalgic event offers exciting rewards. Climb the 30-step Retro Ladder to earn Gold and Season Tokens.

Supercell's continued success stems from consistently refreshing its top games, as seen recently with the Clash of Clans troop training time changes. Clash Royale's anniversary celebration takes this a step further by launching Retro Royale. This mode recreates the game's launch meta, featuring a limited pool of 80 cards.

Compete in the Retro Ladder, battling for exclusive rewards as you ascend the 30 steps. Reaching the Competitive League assigns you a starting rank based on your Trophy Road progress. Your Retro Royale performance then determines your climb up the leaderboard. Show off your timeless Clash Royale skills!

A Royal Decree of Nostalgia

The timing of this retro mode is interesting, following a recent article about Supercell's focus on fresh content. However, nostalgia and dated gameplay are different. With enticing rewards, Retro Royale is sure to attract players.

Competing at least once in both the Retro Ladder and Competitive League earns you a special badge for each.
