NPC Studio's *Fields of Mistria* has garnered acclaim for its compelling marriage candidates, rich dialogue, and thoughtfully crafted romance questlines. So, can you date the current romance options in *Fields of Mistria*?
Can You Date Romance Options in Fields of Mistria?
As it stands, the short answer is no – at least not technically. However, having invested over 100 hours trying to win March's affection, I can confidently say that the game's existing romance system is well worth your time and the $13.99 price tag on Steam.
With *Fields of Mistria's* first major update in November 2024, the game increased its previous four-heart cap to six and introduced a new heart event for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. These events unlock at even intervals, with playable cutscenes at two, four, and six hearts. NPC Studio plans to add eight- and ten-heart events in future updates, though no specific dates or details have been announced beyond the upcoming March 2025 update, which will not include an increased heart level cap or new heart events.

While the prospect of engaging in more quests around Mistria is exciting, new players might be disappointed by the current halt in romance development. However, *Fields of Mistria's* romance system is stellar in its current state, largely due to the game's rich and realistic dialogue, which becomes satisfyingly flirty when it comes to romance options.
The same can be said for the existing heart events. Although early cutscenes can be interpreted as strictly platonic, they are ambiguous enough to allow for romantic interpretation, particularly in their settings. As your romantic relationships progress, they grow deeper and more rewarding, even if you can't go on a proper date.
New players shouldn't dismiss *Fields of Mistria* just because dating isn't available yet. The last major update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event that allows you to initiate a date with eligible NPCs, provided you have four hearts with your chosen romance option. At the time of writing, you can also spend the evening watching the stars with Caldarus, though this doesn't trigger a date at the Summit location as it does with other romance options. This could change with the game's March 2025 update, which is set to unlock the dragon's romance questline.
For now, you might not be able to make your relationship official with dateable NPCs in *Fields of Mistria*, but there's certainly enough content to keep players engaged until the feature arrives.
