A dedicated DOOM enthusiast, NyanSatan, has achieved the remarkable feat of running the classic DOOM game on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, as NyanSatan explains, possesses its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked at up to 168 MHz. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then executing the game, utilizing a MacBook to handle data transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.
Meanwhile, news on an upcoming DOOM iteration reveals a focus on accessibility. DOOM: The Dark Ages will allow players extensive customization options. Executive producer Marty Stratton highlighted the studio's commitment to making the game accessible to a wider audience. Players will be able to adjust enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, damage received, and other parameters such as game pace, enemy aggression, and parry timing. Stratton also confirmed that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't required to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal.
