In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you'll primarily take on the role of the Wanderer, embarking on a journey to restore peace to the land. Throughout your adventure, you'll encounter numerous choices in the main storyline, and regardless of the paths you choose, you'll often find yourself accompanied by powerful companions in battle.
These companions not only stick by your side but also follow your lead across the battlefield. What's more, you have the opportunity to take control of these allies during certain moments. Given their formidable strength, switching to a companion can significantly enhance your combat effectiveness compared to playing as the upgraded Wanderer. Let's dive into how you can switch characters.
How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching to play as your companion is only possible during battles where you have one accompanying you. Before the battle begins, during the war council, you'll see an option to select your companion. You can opt to go into battle alone, but remember, once the fight starts, you won't be able to switch to any companions.
Once the battle is underway, keep an eye on the bottom right of your screen. You'll see your companion's health bar positioned just above your own. Directly beneath it, there's a blue bar, similar to your Musou bar, which fills up as you engage in combat. Here's how you can fill it up:
- By parrying attacks effectively
- Executing perfect dodges
- Targeting and defeating officers
- Utilizing your weapon arts
Every combat action contributes to filling this bar, albeit at a slower pace.
When the blue bar for your companion is fully charged, a "Change Character" button will appear next to it. To switch characters, press and hold this button for about a second. On Xbox, this is the View Button, on PC it's the C key, and on PlayStation, it's the Touchpad.
Playing As Other Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching to another character is best done during intense battles, given the short duration of control—about a minute. As you switch, keep an eye on the blue bar, which will start to drain, signaling the remaining time you have in control. Your new character will come with full Bravery and a set of potent combat arts, ready to unleash devastating attacks.
When you switch, your new character will dramatically enter the fray with a powerful attack, so make sure to aim at an enemy to maximize impact. Each companion also has their own Musou bar and health bar, both of which are fully charged, allowing you to execute their unique special attack to wreak havoc on your foes.
