Firaxis Games unveils the post-launch roadmap for Sid Meier's Civilization VII, detailing paid and free content updates throughout 2025 and beyond. This announcement, part of a recent livestream, outlines substantial updates including new Leaders, Civilizations, and Natural Wonders.

The roadmap features two paid DLC collections:

  • Crossroads of the World Collection: This two-part release begins in early March with Leader Ada Lovelace, four Natural Wonders, and the Carthage and Great Britain civilizations. Part two, arriving in late March, introduces Leader Simon Bolivar and the Bulgaria and Nepal civilizations. Free content, including new Natural Wonder events and Wonders (Battle event and Bermuda Triangle in early March; Marvelous Mountains event and Mount Everest in late March), will also launch alongside these DLC drops.

  • Right Rule Collection: Launching sometime this summer, this collection will include two new leaders, four new civilizations, and four New World Wonders. Additional free content and updates are planned between April and September.

Further free updates, addressing bugs, balance, and quality-of-life improvements, are promised from October 2025 onwards. A developer diary blog post expands on these plans, highlighting the addition of multiplayer teams, larger lobby sizes, increased map variety, and modding tools. These features will be implemented "as soon as possible."

The livestream also showcased multiplayer gameplay, demonstrating diverse victory strategies. A Q&A session addressed community questions.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII launches February 11th, 2024 for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Early access (Deluxe Edition) begins February 6th.
