Unlike games with rigid class systems, Fortnite offers extensive cosmetic customization. Skins, the primary cosmetic items, dramatically alter your character's appearance without impacting gameplay. How to Change Your Character in Fortnite

Modifying your character's look is straightforward:

1. Open the Locker: Access the "Locker" tab at the top of the screen. This houses all your cosmetic items.
2. Select a Skin: Choose from the available skins in the first slot. Browse the list and select your preferred option.
3. Choose a Style (if applicable): Many skins offer style variations, altering colors or the overall appearance. Select your favorite.
4. Apply the Skin: Save and exit the menu. Your character will now sport the new skin in-game. If you own no skins, a default skin will be assigned. A late 2024 update allows you to select a preferred default skin within the Locker.

Changing Gender

Your character's gender is determined by the chosen skin. Each skin has a predefined gender; it's not separately adjustable unless style variations within a skin offer gender options. To play as a specific gender, select an appropriate skin. If needed, purchase one from the Item Shop using V-Bucks (in-game currency). The Item Shop updates daily with new skins for both male and female characters.

Acquiring New Items

Expand your cosmetic collection through:

• Item Shop: Purchase skins and items using V-Bucks.
• Battle Pass: Unlock exclusive rewards by leveling up throughout the season.

Footwear

Introduced in November 2024, "Kicks" lets you equip stylish footwear. Select shoes in the Locker for compatible outfits. Not all outfits support this feature, but compatibility is expanding. Use the "Shoe Preview" to check compatibility before purchasing.

Using Other Cosmetic Items

Beyond skins, personalize your experience with:
