Obtaining the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early in the game. Once you achieve Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. Zakka's inventory includes the Flare Knife, purchasable for 3,000 Entitlement Points. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.
Utilizing the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife's primary function is severing Abductor limbs. This is particularly useful for players favoring Polearms or Heavy Melee weapons, providing a means to sever limbs without relying on Light Melee options. However, remember it's a single-use item; repurchase is necessary for subsequent Operations.
To employ the Flare Knife, target the severable Abductor part, using your Thorn to grapple onto it. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option will appear. A quick-time event (QTE) follows, requiring rapid button mashing to successfully sever the limb. Be aware that Abductors may attempt to interrupt the process by leaping or crashing.
