Authore: IsaacUpdate:Mar 27,2025

George R.R. Martin recently shared an exciting update on his blog, but it wasn't about the eagerly awaited *The Winds of Winter*. Instead, he unveiled the cover for the upcoming illustrated edition of *A Feast for Crows*, the fourth book in the *A Song of Ice and Fire* series. This special edition will feature stunning artwork by Jeffrey R. McDonald and is slated for release on November 4, 2025. You can preorder this beautifully illustrated edition from major retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target.

This news is particularly thrilling for fans who have been collecting the illustrated editions of the series. The last such edition, *A Storm of Swords*, was released back in November 2020, making it a five-year wait for this new addition. The upcoming *A Feast for Crows* illustrated edition will also include a forward by Joe Abercrombie. Martin mentioned that some of the interior illustrations will be shared later this spring, building anticipation ahead of the book's release. For those new to the series or looking to complete their collection, the first three illustrated editions are already available.

For fans still eagerly awaiting *The Winds of Winter*, the wait continues. In a December 2024 interview, Martin acknowledged the possibility that he may never finish the book in his lifetime. This follows his November 2023 update where he confirmed having written 1,100 pages. While the lack of progress on *The Winds of Winter* is disappointing after nearly 14 years of waiting, there remains hope that the series might be completed by someone else. With the fourth illustrated edition now on its way, it appears likely that all five special editions will be completed before *The Winds of Winter*.
