Hasbro has exciting news for fans of Magic: The Gathering, announcing plans to bring the beloved card game to screens everywhere. In collaboration with Legendary Entertainment, they aim to create a comprehensive shared universe that will span both movies and TV shows, with the movie taking precedence as the initial focus.

Legendary Entertainment, known for blockbuster hits like Dune and the Godzilla franchise including Godzilla vs Kong, as well as Detective Pikachu, is set to be the steward of this expansive project. "We pride ourselves on being thoughtful caretakers of singular, beloved IP, and no property better fits that description than Magic: The Gathering," stated Legendary’s chairman of worldwide production, emphasizing their commitment to the game's rich universe.

While details are still emerging, it appears that the movie and TV adaptations at Legendary might not be connected to the previously announced Magic: The Gathering animated series set for Netflix. However, there's a possibility that plans could evolve, potentially integrating the animated series into this broader shared universe.

Magic: The Gathering, a card game that originated in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast, has since become a global phenomenon in the trading card game community. Wizards of the Coast joined the Hasbro family in 1999, further expanding its reach and influence.

Hasbro is no newcomer to transforming its iconic properties into cinematic experiences. With a portfolio that includes successful adaptations like G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Dungeons and Dragons, the company is currently developing several new projects. These include fresh takes on G.I. Joe, a new Power Rangers film, and even a Beyblade movie, showcasing Hasbro's ongoing commitment to bringing its beloved brands to life on the big screen.
