Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Midnight Society, the gaming studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its upcoming FPS title, Deadrop.
In an X post, the studio stated that it would be closing its doors after three years, leaving over 55 developers seeking new employment opportunities. The announcement included a plea for other studios to consider hiring their talented team members.
Midnight Society was established by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling (Call of Duty) and Quinn DelHoyo (Halo). Deadrop, their ambitious free-to-play PvPvE extraction shooter, aimed for a 2024 release but ultimately missed its target.

Following Dr. Disrespect's departure from the studio in 2024 due to controversy surrounding inappropriate messages sent via Twitch Whispers, development on Deadrop continued until the recent shutdown. The game was set in a unique, retro-futuristic 80s-inspired universe, featuring characters with distinctive Daft Punk-esque helmets and a blend of firearms and melee weapons.
This closure adds Midnight Society to the growing list of game studios facing challenges in the current industry climate, joining companies like Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs who have also experienced layoffs or closures.
