Nintendo Switch 2: 120fps, 4K Docked Mode

The long-awaited details about Nintendo's rumored Nintendo Switch upgrade have finally been revealed, and the specifications are even more impressive than many anticipated. The Nintendo Switch 2 supports up to 120fps and can handle 4K resolution when docked, showcasing significant advancements over its predecessor.

PlayDuring today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled several key features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to the original Switch, yet maintains the same thickness of 13.9mm. This new screen offers about double the pixels, supporting a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps, and it's an LCD screen with HDR capabilities. When docked, it can also support up to 4K resolution with HDR.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers feature a magnetic connection and are detached using a release button located on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides have been enlarged for better horizontal play, and the left and right sticks are larger as well. This segment also introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.

The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio for compatible games. It also comes with a more robust and adjustable stand than the original Switch, capable of various height adjustments. Additionally, there's a top USB port that can be used for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.

Finally, the Nintendo Switch 2 is equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
