The latest set, Destined Rivals, along with other recent releases like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, have been plagued by shortages, pre-order issues, and scalping. These sets have been incredibly popular, making them hard to come by for many enthusiasts.

In their official statement on the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company acknowledged that "some fans are experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability." They expressed understanding of the disappointment this causes and affirmed their commitment to addressing the issue by printing more of the affected products at maximum capacity. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible," the statement assured.
Additionally, The Pokémon Company plans to "maximize production" for future TCG expansions to improve product availability right from the launch. They also intend to "continue to reprint impacted products" to keep stocks replenished, including at the Pokémon Center.
In response to the scalping issue, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed it by stating their dedication to providing a smooth purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They employ technology, including a virtual queue system during high-traffic periods, to prioritize fans in getting their hands on new products.
