Pokémon Gold and Silver are Pokémon games developed by Game Freak, released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color. Critically acclaimed for their innovative features, the games were released internationally the following year, and in Europe in 2001. Pokémon Gold and Silver introduced an in-game clock affecting Pokémon appearances and events. Additionally, Gold and Silver added 100 new Pokémon (Gen 2), including Pichu, Cleffa, Hoothoot, Chikorita, Umbreon, Ho-Oh, Lugia, and many more. A 10th-anniversary remake, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, was released for the Nintendo DS in 2009.
