A former Respawn Entertainment employee revealed on their LinkedIn profile that an unannounced project has been cancelled after several years in development. No official reason for the cancellation has been given.
Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb reported the project wasn't a mainline Titanfall entry, ruling out Titanfall 3. Respawn assembled a dedicated "experimental team" of multiplayer shooter specialists for its development.
This isn't the first Respawn cancellation; an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends was also shut down last year.
The Titanfall series is celebrated for its unique blend of fast-paced action and mech combat, allowing players to battle as agile pilots or powerful Titans. Since its 2014 debut, the franchise has garnered a dedicated following thanks to its innovative gameplay, seamlessly merging parkour mechanics with intense team-based battles.
Respawn is currently focused on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the third installment in the Jedi series, and a new unannounced Star Wars strategy game developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
